Prefer is an AEO (answer engine optimisation) platform that tracks how brands show up in AI search answers, then turns the gaps into ranked fixes and article drafts. Self-serve plans start at $24 a month (Starter) and track five engines: ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Perplexity. Every paid plan has a 7-day free trial with no card, and a one-off AEO report from a website URL is free.
Prefer Review: AEO Pricing, Free Report and Trial
AEO platform for AI search visibility

Quick verdict
This is a subscription product with no free continuous tracker, so judge the free report and the trial as samples, not a plan. The trial caps tracked prompts at 30, and tracking pauses if you do not upgrade. Prefer is aimed at marketing and SEO teams that want visibility across answer engines, not only blue-link rankings. The live pricing page also differed on 13 October from what we recorded on 3 October, so read the cost section before relying on any article or seat count.
How we reviewed Prefer
We read the Prefer homepage, Prefer pricing page and privacy page on 3 October 2026 and re-read the pricing page on 13 October 2026.
Every Prefer plan, price and limit in this review comes from Prefer's own pages, checked on , and links to the page it came from. A review cannot be bought. How these reviews are written
On this page
Prefer at a glance
On the homepage, the product is framed as an execution layer for AEO: get customers from AI engines, not just search. The free report takes about 2 to 10 minutes and needs no signup. A tracked prompt is one prompt in one country. All five engines share that slot, countries multiply slots, and the allowance is pooled across the workspace. The Prefer comparison table on the pricing page is dated 12 September 2026, so re-check it before you buy.
What Prefer does
Core workflows on the site include prompt tracking (share of voice, answers that name the brand, average position), Answer Engine Insights across visibility, sentiment, engines, regions and personas, and competitor share-of-voice comparisons. Prefer also shows the sources and citations answer engines use when they mention or skip a brand.
The Action Center ranks fixes, with tags for agent versus human execution. Examples in the vendor's interface include robots.txt crawler allow rules, FAQ or Product schema, a G2 listing and a comparison hub. Content workflows cover gap scan, optimise and create, with a scoring rail in the editor. Content agents handle generation, optimisation and gap scan; a PR pitch agent appears paused in the homepage mock-up. Agent analytics cover bot visits, AI citations, human referrals and indexing.
CMS publish targets listed in the FAQ include Webflow, WordPress, Shopify, Framer, Ghost and Contentful. Measure connections include GSC, GA and Semrush, and automate connections include Slack, HubSpot, Salesforce, Notion and Zapier. Prefer also has a Product Hunt page from around 3 October 2026, which is a popularity signal, not a rating.
Who Prefer is for, and who should skip it
It suits teams that already invest in SEO or content and need to see how ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews, AI Mode and Perplexity talk about their brand. You get prompt-level share of voice plus ranked Action Center fixes, and a USD subscription with included AI article drafts. Growth and Scale add the prioritised action engine, MCP, CMS publish, export and higher prompt limits. Agencies can ask sales about the agency track ($99/month base + $299/month per active client, with Growth-level isolated workspaces).

Skip it in these cases:
- You only need a one-time report. The homepage call to action covers that without a paid seat.
- You want a free continuous tracker. There is none.
- Your job is help-centre packaging. If it is llms.txt-style content for machines rather than answer-engine visibility, look elsewhere.
- You need Qwen, DeepSeek or Claude Sonnet 4 tracking. Those Enterprise engines are sales-quoted, not on the self-serve cart.
If you want EUR billing and a GEO agent stack, compare Omnia below.

What changed between our two reads: on 3 October 2026 the page showed annual equivalents of $21/mo for Starter ($252/yr), $112.25/mo for Growth ($1,347/yr) and $347/mo for Scale ($4,164/yr), with 25 articles a month on Growth, 50 on Scale, 8 and 20 seats, and 2 and 5 projects. On 13 October 2026 it showed the lower annual prices in the table, about 20% off, larger article allowances, and unlimited team members on all plans. The monthly prices and prompt allowances did not change. The 13 October page also offers founding pricing: the first 100 customers keep their signup price while subscribed, with 68 of 100 spots shown as claimed.
The rest of the terms, from the pricing FAQ as read on 3 October 2026: the 7-day trial needs no card, premium features are on during it, and tracked prompts are capped at 30. If you do not upgrade, tracking pauses and your data is kept. Payments go through Dodo Payments as merchant of record, in USD list prices with local currency and tax at checkout. Upgrades apply immediately and downgrades at the next renewal. You can cancel anytime. There is no overage; when a limit is reached, Prefer blocks the action and shows an upgrade prompt. Annual toggle and agency track can change, so re-open the pricing URL before you subscribe.
