XBert Review: Pricing, Sessions and Channels

AI employee for calls, SMS, chat and inbox

XBert is an AI employee from Nextiva for small and mid-size businesses. It answers voice calls, SMS, live chat and inbox messages, books appointments, syncs your CRM and calendar, and hands off to a human with full context. The public price is $99 a month for 100 sessions, then $0.99 for each extra session.

Quick verdict

The price card is simple, one plan and one overage rate, and covering four channels for $99 is a clear pitch. The catch is the unit. Billing is by session, and we found no public definition of what counts as one session across voice, SMS, chat and inbox, so you cannot forecast cost from the card alone.

XBert at a glance

XBert is aimed at teams that want one always-on front door across phone and messaging without standing up a full contact centre. The vendor names the stack behind it: a Knowledge Layer for answers, a Guardian Layer for guardrails, a Customer Journal for memory, and NEXT.IQ as the engine on the homepage. The homepage also states no contracts, a 30-day money-back guarantee and 23+ languages supported, with guided setup available and a sales line at (800) 771-1222.

What XBert does

The homepage and AI employee page describe four front doors: voice, SMS, live chat and inbox. Marketing copy lists call answering, appointment booking, calendar and CRM sync, transcripts and analytics, and team handoff with context so a human does not start cold.

The named layers

The Knowledge Layer is presented as citation-backed answers with traceable sources. The Guardian Layer is described as guardrails and permissions that keep the agent on-script and data separated. The Customer Journal Layer threads every interaction into one continuous customer record.

Voice, tone and integrations

The AI employee page offers 23+ voices and accents, or a cloned voice, and lets you define topics, tone and escalation triggers in plain language. The vendor claims roughly 70% of customer conversations can be resolved with no human involved. That is a marketing figure from the site, not something we measured.

The integrations page lists Salesforce, HubSpot, Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Calendly, QuickBooks, Zoho, Slack, Zendesk, Microsoft Teams, Housecall Pro, Shopify, Epic, ServiceNow, Clover and custom APIs.

Who XBert is for, and who should skip it

It fits a small or mid-size business that needs phone plus SMS, chat and inbox handled by one AI employee, already uses common CRM or calendar tools, and is comfortable with a flat $99 base plus per-session overage. Practices and service businesses that care about appointment booking and after-hours triage will recognise the job on the AI employee page.

Skip it if:

  • You only need a text help centre or in-app chatbot with no telephony.
  • You need a forever-free production agent. The public card has none.
  • You prefer EUR minute billing and a WhatsApp-first telephony stack. XBert's card is USD and session-based.
  • You want a coach that whispers to live agents rather than an autonomous front door. Look at agent-assist products instead.
  • You want a hardware PBX replacement or a full human BPO. Both are outside the job described.

How XBert compares with other tools reviewed here

XBert vs Famulor. Famulor does AI voice agents for phone and WhatsApp with EUR minute billing (our review, 3 October 2026). It starts at €0 with 800 signup credits then €0.18 a minute, or Plus from €27 a month billed yearly. Choose Famulor when WhatsApp and EUR minute economics matter. Choose XBert for a Nextiva-backed USD session plan across voice, SMS, live chat and inbox, with CRM and calendar sync on the same card.

XBert vs Sayble. Sayble is real-time AI that suggests what a human should say next (our review, 30 September 2026). It coaches live agents, while XBert is positioned as an autonomous AI employee that resolves or escalates. Pick Sayble to assist humans and XBert to front the line.

XBert vs NiroHelp. NiroHelp is a WordPress help desk with AI answers from your docs (our check, 28 September 2026). It stays inside wp-admin tickets; XBert owns phone and multi-channel messaging outside WordPress.

More options: voice tools and customer support tools.

XBert pros and cons

Pros

  • One public price: $99 a month, 100 sessions, then $0.99 each
  • Covers voice, SMS, live chat and inbox, not phone only
  • Citation-backed answers, guardrails and customer memory are described as named layers
  • Lists Salesforce, HubSpot, Google Calendar, Zendesk, Shopify and more integrations
  • Homepage states no contracts and a 30-day money-back guarantee, with guided setup

Cons

  • No forever-free production plan on the public card, and overage adds up after 100 sessions a month
  • What counts as a session across channels is not spelled out on the public pricing card
  • The roughly 70% resolved-without-a-human figure is a vendor marketing claim
  • HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR and BAA badges are vendor claims, so legal review is still needed
  • Free trial wording appears on the pages but its terms are not stated
