Ancher saves articles, videos and PDFs and finds them by meaning. Free gives 100 credits a month; Digest is $5.99 a month, or $59.99 a year. From the vendor's published pages, checked October 12, 2026. Not a score.
On this page

Ancher is a personal knowledge base for the articles, videos, social posts, podcasts and PDFs you come across. It finds them again from a rough description and drafts briefs, posts and decks from them. It is built for researchers, founders and creators. Free gives 100 credits a month; paid plans start at $5 a month billed yearly.

Our read: the price is low and the Free plan is real, but you are buying credits without a price list. No page we read says what a save, a search or a draft costs in credits, so it is hard to tell whether 100, 5,000 or 20,000 credits is the right size for you. It is also a one-person product for now, and the security and data-use pages said "coming soon" on 12 October 2026. The part most worth trying is the hosted MCP server, which lets Claude Code, Codex or Cursor search your saved research.

We read Ancher's homepage, Ancher's pricing page, its feature list, its developer docs and its legal pages on 12 October 2026, and every number below comes from those pages.

Ancher at a glance

Ancher is made by Streamify Tech, Inc. It captures web pages, PDFs, videos, podcasts, screenshots and posts from X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit and Instagram. You can find any of it again by describing what you remember, ask questions across what you saved with answers linked to their sources, and turn a Collection into a brief, article, slide deck or HTML page. It runs as a web app, a Chrome extension and mobile apps. Plans on 12 October 2026: Free at $0 with 100 credits a month; Digest at $5.99 a month, or $59.99 a year, with 5,000 credits; Pro at $19.99 a month, or $179.99 a year, with 20,000 credits. Ancher does not publish how many credits each action uses. It is single-user, and the vendor says team features are on its roadmap.

What is Ancher used for?

Ancher is for the moment when you remember an idea but not where you saw it. You save things as you read or watch. Later you type a rough description, and Ancher returns the passage, the video moment or the podcast clip, with the source attached. The vendor's introductory post from 9 October 2026 gives the example of searching for "the podcast where someone explained why customers come back to familiar brands" without knowing the episode or host.

The second job is writing from that material. You group saved items into Collections, point the AI chat at one, and ask for a draft. Ancher says the output is grounded in your saved sources rather than the open web, and that it shows which source each idea came from.

Capture

The Ancher features page lists articles and web pages, links, PDFs and documents, videos, screenshots and images, voice notes, text notes and snippets. The homepage adds posts and threads from X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit and Instagram. The introductory post also names podcasts, audio recordings and Office documents. You can save from the web app, a Chrome extension, or the mobile apps listed on the Ancher download page. The homepage also mentions saving from Slack, Telegram and email, but the vendor does not explain how those routes are set up.

Organise without folders

Each saved source becomes a structured note with key points and takeaways, and keyframes are pulled from videos. Ancher suggests a Collection for each item, which you can accept or change, and you can add a line on why the item mattered. The homepage also shows a contribution heatmap that tracks how much you save.

Find by meaning

Search works on meaning, not exact words. The features page says answers are source-linked, so you can open the note behind a claim. One chat can span notes, files, collections and earlier outputs, and a useful answer can be saved back as a new note.

Create

The create list covers research briefs and reports, documents such as outlines, articles and PRDs, slide decks you can preview inside Ancher, shareable HTML pages, images, audio summaries and short video explainers. Finished work can be downloaded, shared, added to a collection or brought back into chat. The homepage says drafts are written "in your voice". Treat that as the vendor's claim.

Connect to coding agents and a terminal

The homepage says Ancher works with ChatGPT and Claude. The developer docs are more specific. The Ancher quickstart installs agent skills into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and, by the docs' count, 70 more agents. Those agents reach Ancher through a command-line tool that needs Node 24 or newer. Claude Code, Codex and Cursor can use a hosted Ancher MCP server instead, with browser sign-in and no API token. An API token is only needed for CI and other non-interactive jobs. Once connected, an agent can search your notes, pull content and sources into a task, and save findings back. The CLI also covers chat, saving text, URLs and files, and meaning-based search from a terminal.

Who Ancher is for

  • Researchers and analysts who collect sources over weeks and need to quote the exact passage later.
  • Founders and investors who track competitors, market notes and long reads, and want them in one searchable place.
  • Creators and marketers who turn what they watched and read into posts, newsletters and scripts.
  • Developers using Claude Code, Codex or Cursor who want their agent to search saved research without copy-pasting it into the prompt.

Who should skip Ancher

  • Teams that need a shared wiki. Ancher's own help centre says it is designed for one person and that team features are on the roadmap. Its about page says it is "not a team wiki".
  • Buyers who need to cost credits in advance. No page we read says what a save, search or draft costs in credits.
  • Anyone who needs a security review before sign-up. The security and data-use pages both said "coming soon" on 12 October 2026.
  • People who want files on their own disk. Ancher is a hosted service. If you want local Markdown, a tool like Obsidian is a different model.
  • Users under 16. The terms set 16, or the local age of digital consent if higher, as the minimum.

How much does Ancher cost?

USD, checked 12 October 2026, from Ancher pricing (ancher.ai/pricing)

PlanPriceWhat you getFree-tier stop
Free$0, always free100 credits per month, all core features, community support100 credits a month; credit cost per action not published
Digest$5.99/mo billed monthly, or $5/mo billed yearly ($59.99)Everything in Free, 5,000 credits per month, email supportNot applicable
Pro$19.99/mo billed monthly, or $15/mo billed yearly ($179.99)Everything in Digest, 20,000 credits per month, priority support, early access to new featuresNot applicable

The pricing page opens on the Yearly tab, which shows $5 and $15 a month. Those are yearly rates divided by twelve. The Monthly tab shows $5.99 and $19.99. Ancher says yearly saves "up to 20%". By our arithmetic, yearly saves about 17% on Digest and about 25% on Pro. The plan descriptions suggest credits are mostly about generation: Free is described as "save and retrieve knowledge, with occasional generation" and Digest as "regular generation". On the comparison page against NotebookLM, Ancher describes the free tier as needing no card.

Billing terms worth knowing

Under Ancher's terms of service (effective 1 May 2026), paid plans renew automatically until you cancel, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Payments are non-refundable unless the law or Ancher says otherwise. If you pay through an app store, that store's billing rules may apply instead. The terms are governed by California law and send disputes to individual arbitration with a class-action waiver. Ancher can change prices, storage limits or usage allowances with advance notice, effective at your next renewal.

Is Ancher free?

Yes. The Free plan is $0 with 100 credits a month and all core features. What 100 credits buys is not published, and the pricing copy points to light use: saving and searching, with "occasional generation".

Is my data private in Ancher?

The Ancher privacy policy (effective 1 May 2026) says some AI features use third-party model providers acting for Ancher, and that Ancher requires those providers not to train public general-purpose models on that data. It also says Ancher does not use your private saved content to train models offered to other users, and does not sell your content. It may still use de-identified or aggregated data to improve its systems. The help centre puts this more strongly: "never use it to train models". The policy is the narrower, binding text. Ancher's FAQ says notes are stored as Markdown and can be exported at any time, though the terms add that after an account ends, export may only be available for a limited period. Google sign-in uses only your basic profile, and the policy says that data is not used for advertising.

How Ancher compares with other tools reviewed here

Granola's meeting notepad and free plan covers a different source: your calls. Granola captures meeting audio without a bot and merges it with your typed notes. Our review shows Basic at $0 and Business at $14 a user a month (checked 24 September 2026). Choose Granola if your important knowledge comes from meetings, and Ancher if it comes from articles, videos, podcasts and posts.

Tactiq's meeting transcripts and AI credits is the closest match on billing. Like Ancher, it limits AI use with monthly credits. Our review shows Free with 10 transcripts and 5 AI credits a month, and Pro at $8 a user a month billed annually (checked 24 September 2026). Tactiq explains what one credit covers. Ancher does not, which makes Tactiq easier to budget.

Tonefold, the free music composer that runs on Claude Code, does a different job, but it shows the other way to work with Claude Code. Tonefold uses your own Claude login inside its app. Ancher goes the other direction: it plugs your saved research into Claude Code, Codex or Cursor as an MCP server. If you already work inside a coding agent, that is the part of Ancher to try first. You can browse more productivity tools.
